Announcement from the THES PTA
At the PTA Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 22nd, current President Kristi Lang tendered her resignation, and per the PTA Bylaws, 1st Vice President of Programs Heidi Philyaw was voted in as her successor. Mrs. Philyaw will finish the PTA officers’ term as President through March 2019, at which time the Nominating Committee will present the slate of officers for the 2019-2020 school year for a vote at the general membership meeting. We would like to thank Mrs. Lang for her many years of service to the school and to the PTA, and wish her and her family the best of luck at their new school in Chesterfield County!
To learn more about the PTA Executive Committee (officers), the roles they perform and time commitment for each position, please visit www.thespta.org. From now until February 28th, we will be collecting forms for parents who are interested in joining the PTA Executive Committee as officers for the next term (April 2019 – March 2020). The attached Interest Form can be completed online, or via paper copy (going home in purple folders this week). http://tiny.cc/THESPTABoard
Have you joined the PTA yet this school year? We are over 100 memberships shy of our 100% membership goal. It’s only $5 to join, and anyone can do it – parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, bosses, co-workers – anyone! IF we reach our 100% goal, Mr. D. will spend one full school day on the roof of the building! Our students look forward to this every year – please help us make it happen!
Welcome Back Trailblazers!
The PTA is very excited to start another amazing school year! We are lucky to be a part of one of the best schools in Henrico County. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the PTA, our job is to support the students, teachers and staff through our time, talent and treasure.
The primary fundraising tool of the Twin Hickory PTA is the Trailblazer Club. Instead of asking you and your children to sell wrapping paper, cookie dough or magazines, we ask families to make a tax-deductible donation to the PTA. This can now be done online through our Student Directory. (See details on our Trailblazer Club Page.) The PTA uses your generous financial contributions to support many of the programs that make Twin Hickory a great place to learn and grow. Specifically, Trailblazer Club funds are used to purchase innovative digital resources, to fund our STEM program and learning garden, to support school-wide activities like the Reflections Program, to purchase Kindle Fires for students and much much more!
The PTA has an exciting year of activities planned for our families–Fall Festival, Spirit Nights, Books for Bingo and many more!
If you are interested in helping with the PTA, please contact me personally. There are many ways to volunteer throughout the year that can take as much or as little time as you have to give.
Here’s to an amazing school year!
